Dear Student,

Thank you for contacting me regarding your concern. As I consider your question, it seems that you are worried that something may be wrong in your relationship. This can indeed cause great anxiety and insecurity. Often when we do not know what the problem is, or even if there is a problem, it is easy to project our worst fears into a situation. Obviously, I cannot know why your boyfriend has not called you because I do not know you or him. However, “Why has he not called me?” can be an important question to ask yourself. Sometimes relationship issues can be an important “window” into our own emotional and relational “blind spots.” If you sense that on some level you may be causing or contributing to a conflict in your relationship, now is the time to take a look at what this might be. Counseling can help you do this in a way that feels safe and productive. If you think that counseling might be helpful to you, just come by the Counseling and Student Development Center (CSDC) anytime between 10:00 AM and 4:30 PM Monday through Friday, and we will be happy to get you started. We are located in Room 200 of the Campus Life Building. Take care, and I hope that everything is okay between you and your boyfriend.

Sincerely,

Barb Wired
