Dear Student,

I am grateful that you have shared the intensity and urgency of your feelings for this woman. The power of your attraction to her seems to be overwhelming you. Whatever you are doing or thinking about her seems to be making the situation worse. This is a clear signal that it is time to get some help. Often, in the face of such strong emotion, it is difficult to consider the possibility that what you may be feeling is related more to your own struggles with yourself than it is to her. Your feelings for her, while so tortuous to you now, may be an avenue toward deeper personal understanding and growth for you, if you can get involved in a therapeutic relationship that is respectful, supportive, and safe for you to explore these issues.

I want to strongly urge you to consider counseling as a means of helping you resolve the emotional pain that these feelings are generating in you. Just come into the Counseling and Student Development Center (CSDC) anytime between 10:00 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, and someone will be available to help you. We are located in the Campus Life Building, Room 200. Or you can call, 753-1206, and ask to speak with a counselor over the phone. In addition, after hours and on weekends, you can call 753-1212 and ask to speak with the on-call counselor. Take care and don’t wait for the pressure to build any more than it already has. Come in now.

Sincerely,

Barb Wired
