When you leave the airport, stay in the right hand lane and take the Rockford I-90 exit going West (Northwest Tollway). There will be two $0.40 tolls.* Proceed to I-47 (Huntley/Woodstock exit). At the top of the exit ramp, turn left (south).

Go south on I-47 to Route 38 in Elburn (there's an Amoco gas station on the southwest corner). This intersection has a stoplight. Turn right (west).

Proceed west on Route 38. As you approach DeKalb you will begin seeing stoplights (you’ll be turning right on the 10^th). Proceed through "downtown" and shortly you’ll see NIU on the right. Turn right at the stoplight at Normal Road. Slow down for speed bumps! Pass through the stoplight at Lucinda Road. To the right you will see the Campus Life Building. Make the first right onto Newman Lane. You can turn right and see if you can find a metered parking space or you can turn left and park in the Newman Catholic Center parking lot. There is a $3 fee for parking at the Newman Center. If you do not see anyone sitting at the side door then go inside and pay in the office.

Traveling West to DeKalb from Midway Airport via Interstate 88

Proceed west and exit at the Peace Road exit ($0.40 exact change toll*). Turn right (north) on Peace Road and proceed to the second stoplight (Route 38, Lincoln Highway). Turn left and proceed west through "downtown" DeKalb. At Normal Road, turn right (north). Slow down for speed bumps! Proceed east on I-88 and exit at the Annie Glidden exit ($0.55 toll*).  Proceed north on Annie Glidden. Cross Route 38 (Lincoln Highway).  You’ll see campus buildings and the Fieldhouse on your right.  At the Fieldhouse, turn right (east) onto Lucinda Road.

If you are checking into the Holmes Student Center hotel, turn right into the HSC turn-around and follow directions below.

If you are proceeding to the CSDC in the Campus Life Building, turn left at the stoplight at Normal Road.  To the right you will see the Campus Life Building.  Make the first right onto Newman Lane. You can turn right and see if you can find a metered parking space or you can turn left and park in the Newman Catholic Center parking lot. There is a $3 fee for parking at the Newman Center. If you do not see anyone sitting at the side door then go inside and pay in the office.

At Normal Rd, instead of going straight at the Lucinda Rd stoplight turn left and then take an immediate left. This will be the back of the Holmes Student Center. There is a hotel loading/unloading area which is not the metered parking. This area is also host to a bus turn-around so please beware of the busses and students. Park here (put on your blinkers), and pick up your room key and unload your car and then you will be directed to the visitor parking lot which is just to the southwest of the Student Center.

*Illinois tollway fees will be increasing on January 1, 2005 for individuals without an IPASS (Illinois Tollway Pass) Tolls for the DeKalb exits will be $.80 for the Peace Road exit and $1.10 for the Annie Glidden exit. Tolls on all the Chicago Area tollways will double for non-IPASS users (most tolls will become $.80 with some tolls being more than that).
