Cost: $40 for NIU First Year Students

New to NIU?  Are you interested in becoming a trip leader for the Outdoor Adventure program?  Meet other students during a weekend of rock climbing and spelunking.  See what trip leading is all about while making memories with new NIU friends.

Details:

• More information will be available during the Pre-Trip Meeting on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at 9:00 p.m. at the Chick Evan's Field House "Smart Classroom." 
• Bring a completed Trip Leader Application (pdf - 73KB), your resume detailing your outdoor background, and a cover letter focusing on your desire to become a trip leader and what skills you can offer the program.

• Equipment needs, menu, camping arrangements, etc. will be reviewed at this time.

• Cost includes: transportation, staffing, food, camping/spelunking/climbing gear, and camping fees.

• Sign up in advance, first come, first served.

• The fee is required at the time you sign up.

• The fee for those that meet the criteria (NIU students - Freshmen and New Transfers) is $40 and is open to those that bring in the required paperwork.

• There is a minimum and limit of 8 participants for this trip.

• Registration deadline: 6:00 p.m., Thursday, October 9, 2008. 

• If you are a beginning climber, take advantage of our Belay Clinic.

• You'll need to get fitted for climbing shoes when you sign up for the trip. If you have any questions, call us at (815) 753-9423 or contact dswan@niu.edu.

Destinations:

• Climbing and camping at Mississippi Palisades State Park, just north of Savanna, Illinois.
• Spelunking at Maquoketa Caves State Park, just north of Maquoketa, Iowa.
